Hello everyone! This is Elena from Gaia Storm and it is a pleasure to be here once again. Forbidden Light, the brand new set from the Sun & Moon era, is about to hit the stores and everyone is excited about the strategies and cards that are going to come to the TCG. Let’s take a look at the best of them!
First, let’s start with the mighty GX Pokémon, the ones that usually get the most attention. In this set, one of the most frightening ones is Ultra Necrozma, a powerful legendary that deals brutal damage discarding psychic energies. It has instant synergy with Malamar and its capacity to recycle psychic energies from the discard pile. No wonder why everyone is looking forward to test this deck! Anyone remembers the old Rayquaza Eels? Well, it’s back!
Then, we have the iconic Kalos Trio: Zygarde, Yveltal and Xerneas. Zygarde is of course my favourite, a monster of a Pokémon that is able to use its GX attack multiple times per game. Speaking precisely of fighting types, one of the most busted cards in the set is undoubtedly Diance Prism. While in play, it boosts fighting attacks in +20 extra damage. I can’t stress how insane this is for a type that already had access to strong energy.
Moving onto items, there are two which I believe are going to see a lot of play. Beast Ring is my absolute favourite because of its crazy effect. It can be activated when your opponent has 3 or 4 prizes left and it lets you attach two basic energies to an Ultra Beast. Is it just me of Buzzwole, Necrozma and their kind just become much scarier? The other item is Mystery Treasure, an Ultra Ball for Psychic and Dragon Pokémon with half the cost. Also, keep an eye on a very special energy card, Beast Energy, because it’s about to be played in many decks.
Lastly, something very curious about the set is that it includes many already known Pokémon with an alternative typing. For instance, we will see a water type Palkia and a metal Dialga when both were Dragon Pokémon in the previous expansion. The one I am most hopeful for is the fighting type Garchomp -which is theoretically in the set- because it will finally benefit from strong energy and all the fighting support.
There are plenty of other cool cards I would love to go through since Forbidden Light is very good but I will leave some form another time. Thanks for reading and be ready for a new dimension of the game!
