As we all know, the metagame never cease to evolve and we have seen how strategies that seemed unbeatable can lose power in the blink of an eye. What we are going to see today is the all the support that will be released soon for a very specific type of cards: Ultra Beast. What are they and what do they get?

The Ultra Beast are a particular subcategory of cards that started to be introduced some sets ago and that are basically the same as any other Pokémon except from their identifying tag "Ultra Beast" under their names. Some Pokémon that might come to your mind when thinking about this archetype are Pheromosa, Xurkitree, Buzzwole and Necrozma versions, among others. All of them have some sort of legendary status and play a crucial role in the 3DS games.

Here in the TCG they are basically getting parallel boost cards as Team Plasma Pokémon did back in 2013: energies, supporters and items that work just for them. Let's go through some very quickly. My favorite one is Beast Ring, that can be activated when your opponent has 3 or 4 prizes left (not a difficult condition at all). You select one Ultra Beast in your play and attach two basic energies from the deck. Just as easy as that!. Then, they also get their own stadium, Ultra Space, that lets any player grab an Ultra Beast once per turn. This actually pairs pretty well with their exclusive supporter, Ultra Recon Squad, an interesting draw alternative at the cost of discarding Ultra Beast from the hand. But my favorite card here is Beast Energy, a rainbow prism star card energy that can only be attached to an UB and that provides +30 damage. As if Ultra Beast Pokémon didn't reach high numbers already!

With all the new support that they are getting, it seems that the Ultra Beast archetype has the potential to do great things in the future. Take into consideration that there are currently very powerful Ultra beasts being played in many top decks like Dusk Mane Necrozma and Buzzwole.
